Prostate health

As a man ages, the prostate gland may become enlarged, which is common. An enlarged prostate gland may cause problems with sexual or urinary function.

Men may encounter prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in their lifetime.  

• Prostatitis is inflammation of the prostate gland and sometimes the area around it. It is not cancer nor an STD, and it is not contagious. Any man can get prostatitis at any age. Antibiotics will be prescribed and, in rare instances, surgery will be performed to remove part of or the entire prostate.
• BPH occurs when the prostate gland becomes very large and causes problems passing urine. This is a common part of aging. BPH can raise prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, which can be a sign of cancer.

Both surgical and non-surgical treatment options are available for BPH.

Urological cancers

We treat various cancers with advanced technology and outstanding care, including prostate, kidney, bladder, and testicular.

• Bladder cancer can grow in different ways. Most bladder cancers are urothelial carcinomas, also called transitional cell carcinomas. Bladder cancers can present as papillary tumors, flat tumors, or carcinoma in situ (CIS). Each type of tumor can be present in one or more areas of the bladder, and more than one type can be present at the same time. The two common symptoms of bladder cancer are blood in urine and change in urinary habits.
• Kidney cancer occurs when cells in the kidney change and multiply abnormally. Different kinds of kidney cancer include renal cell carcinoma (RCC), transitional cell carcinoma, Wilms’ tumor, and renal sarcoma. Several types of kidney tumors are not cancerous (benign) but still affect kidney function, causing pain and other symptoms.
• Prostate cancer is diagnosed in four stages, depending on how far it has spread. It often shows no symptoms in early stages. By the time symptoms start, the cancer may have already spread outside the prostate. We offer cutting-edge imaging options for prostate cancer patients. PSMA-targeted PET, which helps detect prostate cancer early and can be part of a complete cancer diagnosis by your physician.
• Testicular cancer is cancer that starts in the testis. The majority of testicular cancers are germ cell tumors, and surgery to remove the tumor is the most common treatment. Testicular cancer is one of the most curable forms of cancer.  

Male health

Erectile Dysfunction (ED), or impotence, is the inability to have or keep an erection firm enough for intercourse. Any man at any time can have ED, but as a man ages, health problems that lead to ED are more common. Up to half of men over the age of 40 experience ED at some point.

Urinary issues

Urinary issues are common. When your pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue stretch, weaken, or tear, they can’t support the urethra and bladder. This can cause urine to leak.

Urinary issues are typically caused by the following:

• Hysterectomy or other pelvic surgery
• Pregnancy, vaginal childbirth, and c-sections
• Nerve damage

Kidney health

Kidney stones are a common problem. Kidney stones are made of chemical crystals that separate out from urine. These crystals clump together to make stones. They are typically caused by an imbalance in the urinary system.

Symptoms of kidney stones include the following:

• Bloody urine
• Burning urination
• Cloudy or odorous urine
• Frequent urination
• Fever
• Nausea and vomiting
• Sudden and severe pain
