Why Choose Kettering Health for Gynecologic Cancer Treatment?
All women have a slight risk of developing gynecologic cancers. That risk can be increased by your age, family history, inherited gene mutations, weight, and other factors. We encourage you to take control of your health and work with your doctor to know your risk.
Kettering Health will be with you through every step of this process, including screening, diagnosis, treatment, education, and remission. We are here to support you and provide you with everything you need to recover.
Early detection
Gynecologic cancer can be difficult to detect early, but your doctor will help determine when you should receive screenings like pap smears and cervical cancer screenings. We also help educate you about early warning signs and symptoms of the various types of gynecologic cancer.
It is important to work with your doctor to determine your risk and take steps to mitigate that risk. Be honest with your doctor, as this can help them properly recommend screenings. If you are younger than 26 years old, consider getting the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. Getting this vaccine can actually help prevent cervical cancer from developing.
Diagnosis
Cervical, ovarian, and endometrial cancers are the most common types of gynecological cancers. We are here to support you through this diagnosis, no matter what cancer you have. From your first symptoms through your treatment, we provide compassionate care to support you on your journey to recovery.
If you or your physician suspects gynecologic cancer, the Kettering Health cancer team has a variety of tests to help you determine what is causing your symptoms:
- Biopsy
- CA-125 Blood Test
