In the United States, nearly 3 million people are affected by atrial fibrillation (AFib), the most common kind of arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat.
If you or a loved one struggles with an irregular heartbeat, we’re here to help. Our specialists will help you understand your symptoms and diagnosis, getting you to the care you need more quickly.
The Care You Need
From medication management to surgical intervention, we’ll find the right treatment for you.

Heart Testing
Testing such as an electrocardiogram (EKG) can help determine the proper diagnosis and the best treatment for you.

Heart Ablation
Heart ablation is a non-surgical procedure that targets and removes tissue causing an irregular heartbeat. Our specialists can determine if ablation is right for you.

Pacemakers and ICDs
Pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) are effective in helping the heart maintain a consistent rhythm. If this treatment is right for you, our specialists attach a device under the skin of the upper chest in a minor surgery.

What Is An Electrophysiologist?
An electrophysiologist (EP) is a cardiologist who focuses on the heart’s electrical system. They can diagnose and treat arrhythmias to help you get your heart back in rhythm.

Frequently Asked Questions
An arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat such as beating too quickly, too slowly, or in an irregular pattern.
The most common symptoms of an arrhythmia include
- Fluttering sensation in the chest
- Fatigue
- Lightheadedness
- Shortness of breath
- Anxiety
If you think you may have an arrhythmia or are experiencing symptoms, schedule an appointment with your primary care provider (PCP). If you already have one, you can also speak with a general cardiologist. If you already have a diagnosis but haven’t been treated, you can schedule with one of our EPs.
Using tests such as an EKG, electrophysiologic studies (EPS), a Holter monitor, an event monitor, or an implantable loop recorder, we can diagnose an arrhythmia and determine the best course of action.
If your smartwatch notifies you of an irregular heartbeat, talk with your PCP. You can also speak with a general cardiologist if you already have one. If your symptoms worsen, seek care at your closest emergency department.
Our expert team of EPs and general cardiologists can diagnose and treat arrhythmias.
An EP is a cardiologist with special training to treat arrhythmias, while general cardiologists mainly diagnose and medically manage arrhythmias. Some cardiologists can implant pacemakers; however, EPs can provide additional treatments, such as ICDs and ablations, to completely eliminate a condition.
Yes. To schedule an appointment with an EP, call (866) 224-9472.
You will need documentation of an arrhythmia diagnosis to schedule an appointment with an EP.
If your smartwatch indicates you have an irregular heartbeat or you’re having symptoms, contact your PCP. They can provide EKG testing or a referral to a general cardiologist for testing.
Usually, patients are seen by a general cardiologist after they’re diagnosed with an arrhythmia. The cardiologist may then refer the patient to an EP as needed.
Now, patients with an arrhythmia diagnosis can schedule directly with an EP.
