Dr. McCarthy,

I want to thank you for your help to resolve (what I felt) was a potential medical emergency. At the time I was scheduled for a surgical procedure within a week . Unfortunately, I came down with a ill-timed poison ivy problem. When I contacted the surgeon, I was advised the surgery would most likely be postponed if the poison ivy problem could not be resolved. When I attempted to contacted my primary care doctor, I found he was on vacation and not available. The scheduler recommended you and explained you had extensive experience regarding my prior condition. She said I could see you the next day and we set up an appointment. During the appointment, you explained, due to my previous condition, I would not be able to get the normally prescribed Cortisone shot. Thankfully, due to your prior experience, complete and instant understanding of the situation, you prescribed a specific topical cream you thought would clear the poison ivy to the point the surgery could proceed. After using the cream and following your specific instructions, a quick visit to the surgeons office five days later, I was cleared and the surgery was successfully completed on the originally scheduled day.

I want to thank you and let you know, based upon how the appointment concluded, I had complete faith what you prescribed and the detailed instructions you provided would work. What could have been a stressful week prior to my surgery was, instead, a much needed low stress period prior to the surgery.

I had a total shoulder replacement by Dr. Luckinbill in July 2024. I had severe osteoarthritis in shoulder. Surgery, recovery, and PT went great. I love to play golf and was not able to play before surgery due to the pain. Glad to report that I am hitting the ball great and playing the best I ever had. I am so grateful for Dr. Luckinbill and his skills. I wish him and his family all the best! Thanks Doc!!!
