Kettering Medical Center has been recognized as a Best Hospital and as High Performing for 11 procedures and conditions for 2021-22 by U.S. News & World Report.
The annual Best Hospitals rankings and Procedures & Conditions ratings are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.
“Earning these rankings validates the high-quality care that we give at Kettering Health,” said Brenda Kuhn, chief clinical officer at Kettering Health. “Recognitions such as these are a direct result of our employees’ dedication to helping our patients achieve their best health.”
Kettering Medical Center earned High Performing ratings for the following procedures and conditions:
- Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
- Back surgery (spinal fusion)
- Colon and lung cancer surgery
- Heart attack and heart failure
- Hip fracture and hip replacement
- Kidney failure
- Knee replacement
- Stroke
Four other Kettering Health medical centers were also named as High Performing for the following conditions or procedures:
- Knee replacement – Grandview Medical Center
- Back surgery (spinal fusion) – Soin Medical Center
- Kidney failure – Fort Hamilton Hospital, Grandview Medical Center, Soin Medical Center, and Sycamore Medical Center
- Hip fracture – Greene Memorial Hospital

For the 2021-2022 ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,750 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 17 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialty areas, 175 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. The state and metro area rankings recognize hospitals that received high-performing ratings across multiple areas of care.
