What Is Vestibular Therapy?
Vestibular therapy alleviates dizziness, gaze instability, imbalance, and gait deficits caused by vestibular disorders and conditions.
Why Might I Need Vestibular Therapy?
Vestibular therapy will help you reduce your risk for falling and dizziness while improving your balance, symptom management, and gaze stabilization, allowing you to return to everyday activities.

- Experience falls or near falls.
- Often feel dizzy or lightheaded, especially when standing.
- Have trouble walking or struggle with veering while walking.
What to Expect With Vestibular Therapy
A vestibular therapist will review your medical history and complete a comprehensive assessment to evaluate your
- Balance and walking ability
- Strength and coordination
- Eye movement with an oculomotor assessment
- Positional testing using infrared goggles to assess for positional vertigo
After completing your assessment, your vestibular therapist will develop a customized exercise plan to improve your positional vertigo, gaze stabilization, balance, and motion sensitivity. Along with exercise, patient and caregiver education is an integral part of therapy.
