Kettering Health values its partnership with patients and their loved ones. We are committed to providing the most comprehensive, easy-to-use data necessary to help make informed decisions about health care providers. As part of that promise, we now share our providers’ patient experience ratings online for review.
About our survey
Kettering Health focuses on providing an exceptional experience for every patient, every time, everywhere across the system. We utilize a third-party vendor with expertise in the health care patient satisfaction industry to provide post-visit surveys that measure all aspects of the patient experience. All ratings are submitted by actual, verified patients so you can rest assured they are reflective of real experiences.
Who receives the patient satisfaction survey?
All medical practice patients, with confirmed email addresses, receive a survey within a few days following their visit. Patients complete the survey online and comment on specific aspects of care. Kettering Health uses this patient feedback to improve the care offered and enhance the services we provide.
Do you post all comments?
Kettering Health is committed to transparency. We provide all relevant feedback, whether it is good or not so good, in an unedited format. However, we do not post comments that are libelous or profane or those that risk the privacy of our patients. Comments display for one year.
What questions do you ask?
Kettering Health uses the Press Ganey patient satisfaction survey — developed for use in medical practice settings across the country. Provider star ratings include only information gathered from provider-specific survey questions.
Provider-specific questions include:
- Concern that care provider showed for your questions or worries
- Explanations the care provider gave you about your problem or condition
- Care provider’s efforts to include you in decisions about your care
- Care provider’s discussion of any proposed treatment (options, risks, benefits, etc.)
The overall rating question is:
- Likelihood of your recommending this care provider to others
Why don’t we see patient ratings and comments for every provider?
Kettering Health wants to provide the most authentic portrayal of a provider’s performance. Industry standards show that a minimum of 30 complete patient surveys per provider is necessary to attain a more accurate assessment of performance. Medical practice providers with less than 30 complete patient surveys will not have star ratings. Providers will show star ratings once they reach the minimum requirement. Because of this new providers to Kettering Health will not have a rating. Acute care and behavioral health providers are excluded.
Can anyone complete a survey or post a comment about a provider?
No. Only patients that have a verified outpatient visit with a Kettering Health provider and an email address on file receive a survey. Results are based entirely on feedback from actual patients treated by a specific provider.
How is patient information protected?
Kettering Health protects all personal health information by not displaying patient names or personal identifiers.
