Making a difference with your Year End Giving
As we close the year and begin the season of giving, there are several ways that you can make a difference. When you make a gift to the Grandview Foundation, you are supporting patient care, medical research and medical education at Kettering Health Dayton and Washington Township (formerly Grandview and Southview Hospitals).
Ways to give:
- Gifts of cash (tax-deductible) via credit card online, phone, or mail. Checks made payable to:
The Grandview Foundation
405 W Grand Ave.
Dayton, OH 45405
- Gifts of appreciated assets such as stock, which provide an income tax deduction and help avoid capital gains tax.
- IRA Charitable Rollover gift: For donors age 70 and a half or older, gifts to Grandview Foundation made directly from a traditional IRA can be tax-free to the giver.
Bundle Your Gifts:
If you donate more than $600 to charity, consider a gifting strategy like bundling. Since the doubling of the standard deduction has reduced an incentive to itemize, you may not benefit by making a single charitable gift. But bundling your gifts—or making large gifts less frequently than regular annual gifts—can be impactful. For example, if you normally donate $5,000 to a charity each year, consider giving $15,000 in one year and skip the next two. Your total donation is the same, but if you coordinate it with your other potential itemized deductions—like medical expenses—you can take advantage of the deduction in a year you itemize.
