Call TodayWhy Choose Kettering Health for Cancer Diagnosis?
Our goal is to keep you close to home and get you in quickly because early answers lead to better outcomes.
- Next-day access to expert evaluation: Our clinic is designed for those with symptoms or test results that could point to cancer. We’ll provide a thorough evaluation and help you understand any next steps.
- Advanced techniques: As the only healthcare system in the Dayton area with a cyclotron, we can produce specialized imaging agents that give us a clear, precise view of whether cancer has spread.
- Team-based care: Your care begins with an advanced practice provider (APP). If we find cancer, we’ll connect you with our team of specialist who follow the NCCN Guidelines®, the national gold standard for cancer care. If another condition is found we’ll guide you to the right next step.
- Comfort and compassion at every step: We prioritize your comfort and peace of mind. From your first visit to every follow-up, our team takes time to listen, answer questions, and guide you through each decision with care and attention.
Who Should Call?
You may qualify for a diagnostic consult if you have
- Abnormal lab results (e.g., unusual bloodwork or tumor markers)
- Abnormal imaging (e.g., suspicious findings on scans)
- Physical symptoms (e.g., a lump, unexplained pain or weight loss, persistent cough or fatigue)
But you don’t need a referral to get started. We do recommend checking with your insurance provider to confirm coverage for self-referrals. We have financial counselors available to help you understand your options, even if your insurance isn’t in-network.
What to Expect
Your evaluation will begin with same-day lab testing, such as bloodwork or tissue tests. Based on those results, we may recommend additional diagnostic testing, which can be scheduled at your convenience. These may include
- Biopsy: A small sample of tissue is collected and examined in a laboratory.
- Ion Robotic Bronchoscopy: A minimally invasive procedure used to examine and biopsy lung nodules.
- Additional Imaging: Including CT scans, MRI, PET scans, ultrasound, and X-rays to provide detailed internal views.
Our team will also guide you through a comprehensive evaluation, which may include
- Initial consultation with an APP
- Comprehensive workup including imaging, labs, and physical exam
- Referral to specialists if cancer is confirmed
- Guidance on next steps if a condition is identified
