About Me
Vikram Balakumar, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician working in critical care heart & vascular.
Dr. Balakumar earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India. He then completed his internal medicine residency and critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
When Dr. Balakumar was a kid, he became deeply inspired to become a physician by witnessing the impact a good doctor can make, not only on the patients they see, but also on the patients' families. In his spare time, Dr. Balakumar enjoys running, reading non-fiction, and spending time with his family.
This provider specializes in caring for patients during their stay in the hospital, overseeing their treatment and guiding them to recovery. After you’re discharged, you will be seen by your regular specialist or primary care provider.
