Nursing Externship

The Nursing Externship program is designed for junior and senior nursing students (seniors who will complete their BSN after summer 2023).

The Externship program was designed to build a clinical foundation while inspiring student nurses to connect with the patient experience in a real-world setting. Our externs expand their clinical knowledge through full-time, one-on-one hospital experience with a nurse preceptor.

Nurse Assistant Program

The Nursing Assistant Program is designed for nursing students who have completed Foundations and are approaching their final clinical and academic experiences before graduation.

This immersive program offers hands-on experience in step-down, acute care, and emergency departments at Kettering Health. Participants work three 12-hour shifts per week, gaining confidence and clinical skills through direct patient care and growing autonomy in a real-world hospital environment. Students also benefit from shadowing opportunities and exposure to nursing leadership, providing insight into professional practice and future career paths.
