U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, has named Kettering Health Main Campus and Soin Medical Center as 2026 High Performing hospitals for Maternity Care. This is the highest award a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care annual study.
“This recognition is a testament to the quality of care our remarkable teams provide every day,” said Chrissie Richards, executive director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Kettering Health. “Due to declining birth rates, we made the recent decision to transition Soin Medical Center’s Obstetric Services to our larger maternity centers. While this is a change to the geographical model of our maternity services, our commitment to quality and patient safety remains the same. Growing families can rest assured that the level of care that earned Kettering Health Main Campus and Soin Medical Center this recognition will continue to serve as the foundation of our care philosophy across the system.”
Kettering Health’s maternity offerings also include specialized programs including Bengals Babies, the First Steps Breastfeeding Support Center of Excellence, and a variety of parenting and childbirth education classes that support families with key infant care needs and offer educational resources on safe sleep, breastfeeding, postpartum mental health and more.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals for Maternity Care methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality, such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, birthing-friendly practices and reporting on racial/ethnic disparities, among other measures. U.S. News Best Hospitals for Maternity Care assist expectant parents, in consultation with their prenatal care team, in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity services that best meets their family’s needs.
