Joseph Gunasekera, MD, FACC, specializes in cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), an insignia of prestige and quality for those who provide cardiovascular care.
Dr. Gunasekera received his medical degree from the University of Colombo, Faculty of Medicine in Sri Lanka. He completed both an internship and residency at Cook County Hospital and a fellowship at the University of Wisconsin.
He has been board-certified in internal medicine since 1989 and in cardiovascular disease since 2003.

The doctor was very good, when I first started going to him, now I am looking for a new doctor!!
The doctor always explains conditions and treatments where I understand. Always listens to my concerns about any treatments.. Always a smile for his patients..
This was the latest in a series of visits with this doctor. Each visit was a progressive and planned visit accomplishing the right successive steps in a long term treatment plan. Dr. Gunasekera has been a great listener and offered thoughtful discussion of treatment options.
Everything about Dr Gunasekera was wonderful as usual. There are no complaints at all with him as a physician He is an asset to his profession for sure.
