Elissa Reed, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner working in primary care with special interests in chronic disease management, neurology, and post-trauma care.

She earned her Master of Science in nursing-nurse practitioner from Purdue University Global. Elissa worked as a family nurse practitioner in Huber Heights for almost a decade prior to her role with Kettering Health.

Nursing has been a passion of Elissa's ever since she was young and her grandfather was ill. She was intrigued by the nurses who cared for him at the bedside, and the medical system as a whole. Elissa always enjoyed science in school. After working as a bedside nurse for 15 years, she felt like she could offer more of her services to the community by becoming an advanced practice provider, which would provide her more autonomy and knowledge.

In her spare time, Elissa enjoys spending time with her family, reading, walking her dogs, and trying different arts and crafts.

What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?

A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse. They hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
