Dimitrios Topalidis, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with special interests in coronary artery revascularization and valve and arrhythmia surgery.

He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Thessaloniki, Greece. Dr. Topalidis served his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and finished his training with a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

While Dr. Topalidis was growing up in Greece, his sister's son was born with a complex congenital heart disease that required multiple open-heart surgeries (one in Greece and two in the United States) to enable him to survive into adulthood. This experience motivated Dr. Topalidis to pursue a career in medicine and cardiothoracic surgery.

Dr. Topalidis is married with three children. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling, especially to Europe, where he and his spouse have extended family. Dr. Topalidis also loves to play the piano and chess, and basketball is his favorite sport.
