Christie Astor, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner working in gastroenterology with special interests in chronic disease management, wellness, and lifestyle.
She earned her Master of Science in nursing-family nurse practitioner and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Ohio University. Prior to her role, Christie had almost a decade of experience as a clinical registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner.
Christie became a nurse practitioner because she wanted a career where she could make a meaningful difference in people's lives and where she could help them achieve better health. She also enjoys the intellectual challenge of practicing at an advanced level and staying updated on medical advancements. In her spare time, Christie enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and traveling.
What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?
A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse. They hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
