April Brown, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner working in critical care with a special interest in pulmonary care. She truly enjoys the fast-paced environment of the intensive care unit and is passionate about explaining the "why" in the acute illness phase.

She earned her Master of Science in nursing-nurse practitioner from Northern Kentucky University. Before her role with Kettering Health, April worked multiple years in pulmonary critical care.

April wanted to become an advanced practice provider to help patients, families, and other staff members in the acute illness stage with knowledge, empathy, and a supportive presence.

In her spare time, April enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and getting together with her big family.

This provider specializes in caring for patients during their stay in the hospital, overseeing their treatment and guiding them to recovery. After you’re discharged, you will be seen by your regular specialist or primary care provider.

This provider is a resource provider for Kettering Health Medical Group. Resource providers offer the Medical Group team valuable support, ensuring we can continue to see patients without interruption when other providers need to take vacation or personal days.

What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?

A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse. They hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
