Andrea Smith, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner working in primary care with special interests in wellness, kinesiology and exercise science, preventive medicine, and chronic illnesses.

She earned her Master of Science in nursing-family nurse practitioner and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati. Before her role with Kettering Health, Andrea worked as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit.

Andrea became an APP because her father was a physician, and she always admired the work that he did and his ability to help people. She also loves interacting with people and helping them feel their best.

Outside of patient care, Andrea enjoys painting, crocheting, reading, and macrame. She was a competitive acrobat for several years and previously coached acrobatic gymnastics. Andrea loves supporting and cheering on teams from her hometown, Lebanon. She and her spouse love their small town and spending time with their four children.

What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?

A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse. They hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
