Ryan Konkel was named a Forty Under 40 winner by the Dayton Business Journal. He was honored at an awards banquet along with the other winners on May 18.

Ryan is an EMS coordinator for Kettering Health Main Campus and part of Kettering Health’s Emergency Outreach team. As EMS coordinator, he serves as the liaison between local fire departments and the hospital. This includes teaching continuing education to EMS providers, supporting Event Medicine at Paycor Stadium, disaster preparation, and pre-hospital representation for various Kettering Health service lines.
Ryan has been with the system for nearly nine years, and says one of the projects he’s most proud of is his involvement with Kettering Health’s Surgical Emergency Response Team (SERT). SERT is the team that brings additional trauma-care resources to assist first responders and care for the patient when getting to the hospital right away isn’t possible. Every SERT team arrives from KH Main Campus with an attending trauma surgeon, two PAs, and a surgical technician or nurse.
Part of Ryan’s role as EMS coordinator involves working with local fire departments to talk about SERT and to help prepare training. The training, which involves every layer of personnel involved in a real SERT call, mimics as much of real life as possible.
Ryan grew up in Kettering and still lives there today. He serves the community as a board member of a local Kettering pool club as well as for the Kettering City Schools Forward Foundation.
In his free time, he loves to cook and go camping, and he would love to own and operate a food truck one day.
Congratulations, Ryan!
