Kettering Health announced today that it will not renew its contract with private Medicare Advantage insurer Anthem (including Anthem MyCare). This change will take effect Jan. 1, 2027. Patients can continue using their Anthem Medicare Advantage plans through Dec. 31, 2026.
Anthem did not offer contract terms that meaningfully addressed administrative and operational burdens or growing shortfalls created by denials and payment reductions. At the same time, their reimbursement has consistently remained well below that of traditional Medicare and inflation.
Kettering Health remains committed to patients with these plans and is collaborating with RetireMed, a trusted local Medicare advisory group, to help patients explore their options and transition to coverage that will allow them to continue their care uninterrupted. RetireMed will provide free, personalized guidance throughout the upcoming Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).
During AEP, which runs from Oct. 15, 2026, through Dec. 7, 2026, patients will be able to switch plans and sign up for new coverage to maintain in-network access to care at Kettering Health. These changes will take effect on Jan.1, 2027.
Kettering Health will issue letters to patients with Anthem Medicare Advantage plans and will continue accepting traditional Medicare and several other Medicare Advantage plans.
