Kettering Health Miamisburg’s Bariatric Surgery Center has recently undergone an independent, voluntary, and rigorous peer evaluation following nationally recognized bariatric surgical standards. The review resulted in reaffirming the center’s accreditation and designation as a Comprehensive Center from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). The accreditation affirms the surgery center’s commitment to provide nationally benchmarked standards of care and highlights the center’s continuous improvement towards superior patient outcomes.
The MBSAQIP sets national standards for bariatric centers to advance safe and high-quality care for patients undergoing bariatric surgery. Kettering Health Miamisburg’s Bariatric Surgery Center’s designation indicates it has all the necessary equipment to perform complex initial and revisional bariatric surgery procedures for a high volume of patients.
“Being a Comprehensive Center for bariatric surgery means that our hospital and bariatric program is dedicated to excellent care for our communities,” said Dr. Carey Brown, medical director for Kettering Health Miamisburg’s bariatric program. “We remain focused on continuous improvement and helping our patients live with a better quality of life.”
To maintain the accreditation, Kettering Health Miamisburg’s Bariatric Surgery Center must regularly operate with the same high standards of practice and report outcomes to the MBSAQIP database. MBSAQIP also conducts an on-site visit every three years.
Kettering Health’s bariatric program features a team approach to care, with skilled bariatric surgeons, psychologists, dietitians, and exercise physiologists to help patients in every step of their weight-loss journey.
