Kettering Health is partnering with Period Kits Ohio to host the system’s second annual Period Poverty Donation Drive. Throughout March, the public can place donations of pads, tampons, and liners in marked donation barrels at participating Kettering Health medical centers and Kettering Health Medical Group OB-GYN facilities. Donations will be collected at the sites listed below and then distributed by Period Kits Ohio.

Period poverty refers to the inability to consistently access menstrual hygiene products due to financial barriers. Those without access to period products may have to risk their health by leaving tampons in for too long or using items such as rags or paper towels in place of pads. This can lead to health complications, such as the life-threatening bacterial infection known as toxic shock syndrome. Women who don’t have access to period products may also be forced to miss school and/or work monthly.
