New technology investments at Kettering Health Hamilton continue to advance care close to home with the recent additions of the Zimmer Biomet ROSA® Robotic Technology, a robotic-assisted surgical system for total knee replacement, and new Stryker ProCuity patient beds with updated comfort and safety features.
ROSA Robotic Technology
The ROSA Robotic Technology for total knee replacements helps surgeons be more efficient and more accurate during procedures. ROSA features can assist with bone removal and assess the state of soft tissues to facilitate implant positioning during surgery. Data provided by ROSA helps surgeons make complex decisions in the moment and use computer software technology to control and move surgical instruments, resulting in greater precision and flexibility during procedures.
“While total joint replacement is one of the most commonly performed elective surgeries, it remains a big decision for our patients. We hope the option of robotic-assisted surgery, with benefits for both surgeons and our patients, will help make these decisions easier,” said Dr. Joseph Scheidler, an orthopedic surgeon at Kettering Health Hamilton.
Stryker Procuity Patient Beds
With an eye toward continuous improvement, Kettering Health Hamilton has replaced many inpatient beds, including stretchers in the facility’s Emergency Department. New replacement beds from Stryker provide enhanced patient comfort and safety-elevating features.
ProCuity beds include functions to reduce pressure injuries, built-in bed alarms, and a data dashboard, which can ensure patients are properly positioned and help prevent falls. Patients will also benefit from safety and comfort features for getting out of bed. Small details, like an electronic device holder and easy-to-find call buttons, will enhance the patient experience.
“We want our community members to be able to receive superior care right here at home, so the quality of our patient care is a top priority for Kettering Health Hamilton,” said Paul Hoover, president of Kettering Health Hamilton.
“By investing in leading-edge robotic-assisted surgery and innovative bed technology, our patients are receiving greater comfort during their stay and recovering more quickly with less pain. From the gold standard in precision surgery options to the latest in hospital beds that further strengthen our safety standards, Kettering Health Hamilton is leading the way in safety, innovation, and outcomes.”
