We’ve all heard it before. Well-meaning friends and family questioning why you’d want to talk to a therapist. “Don’t spill your secrets to a stranger! Why do you need therapy? Just talk to us instead!” You might eventually talk yourself out of seeking therapy because you fear being labeled as “crazy” by yourself or loved ones. Let’s face it, admitting to emotional distress can be incredibly uncomfortable, especially to those close to you. Mental illness remains a taboo subject across many races, cultures, and ethnicities.
Join Licensed Independent Social Worker, Kappi R Hickman, LISW-S, around the table to explore the truths about mental illness and the advantages of professional counseling in guiding you towards mental wellness. This is a space to share and have your questions answered. Please submit your questions in advance to Cynthia at cynthia.ray-shelton@ketteringhealth.org, Subject – Questions for Dispelling the Myths. Kappi is eagerly looking forward to welcoming you at the table!
This program is free. Space is limited, and registration is required. For more information and to register, please call (937) 558-3988 or click ‘GOING” below to reserve your spot.
