Shannon Murphy, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner who specializes in adult-gerontology acute care.
Shannon has dedicated much of his adult life to developing knowledge and competency in the medical field. He began his healthcare career as a combat medic and healthcare specialist in the U.S. Army. Afterward, he spent more than a decade in EMS as a paramedic. Committed to continuing his healthcare education, Shannon later earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, then his Master of Science in Nursing from Wright State University.
When Shannon isn't working, he enjoys traveling with his wife, as well as serving on Christian-based medical mission trips.
What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?
A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. They hold a master's or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
As a Christian, I believe in cultivating a heart of compassion and servitude. I am convinced of the necessity for continued learning and developing mastery of procedural techniques. Furthermore, the delivery of meaningful and timely care depends on being a reliable, impactful, yet humble team member.
