Dr. Emily Franks is from Waynesville, Ohio, and received her medical degree locally at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine.
She completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Kettering Health Main Campus and a combined Fellowship program in Medical Oncology and Hematology at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. She also worked at the VA Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology.
Her practice includes all areas of medical oncology as well as benign and malignant hematology. She has an increased interest in blood disorders after concentrating much of her research efforts on leukemia and pre-leukemic conditions. She has presented and published research on chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, myelodysplasia, mastocytosis, and thalassemia. She also trained extensively in the multidisciplinary breast cancer clinic at the University of Maryland Medical Center and gained significant experience in genitourinary cancers at the VA Medical Center.
Dr. Emily Franks is a member of the Dayton Clinical Oncology Program and the Kettering Health Cancer Committee. She also participates in the education of medical students and residents at Kettering Hospital. Her goal is to bring the most up-to-date medicine back to her community.
