Carol Griffith, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner working in heart and vascular with specific focuses on coronary artery disease, heart failure, and hyperlipidemia. Cardiology has always been her sole focus. She feels most rewarded when she can help prevent the progression or even the development of these issues for her patients.

She earned her Master of Science in nursing-nurse practitioner and her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Wright State University. She worked as a registered nurse in medical surgery, the surgical intensive care unit, critical care, and in the heart and vascular units for two decades. She then became a nurse practitioner, and she worked in that position for nearly a decade before coming to Kettering Health.

Carol chose to become a nurse practitioner to provide more impactful care to her patients. She wanted to develop relationships with her patients to provide the benefits of better health by perfectly entwining the nursing model with the medical model.

Outside of patient care, Carol enjoys spending time with her family, taking her dog for a walk, and going on vacations.

What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?

A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse. They hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
