About Me
Cara Homan, APRN-CNP, is a nurse practitioner working in trauma surgery with a special interest in acute care.
She earned her Master of Science in nursing-nurse practitioner from Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Cara had experience in medical intensive care, surgical intensive care, and emergency medicine.
Cara chose to become an advanced practice provider because she wanted to be able to advocate for patients to her full potential and better support patient needs.
Outside of patient care, Cara enjoys playing the piano, hiking, and spending time with her family.
This provider specializes in caring for patients during their stay in the hospital, overseeing their treatment and guiding them to recovery. After you’re discharged, you will be seen by your regular specialist or primary care provider.
What is a Certified Nurse Practitioner?
A certified nurse practitioner (CNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse. They hold a master’s or doctoral degree and have advanced clinical training. They collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat patients. Like physicians, they can make referrals, provide physical exams, order and interpret tests, and prescribe medications.
