The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 29th year, are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.
Kettering Medical Center is ranked #15 out of 220 hospitals in Ohio, and is recognized among the Best Hospitals in the Dayton metro area and the Ohio River Valley region. It is recognized as high performing in the following specialties:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Heart Failure Care
- Colon Cancer Surgery
- Hip Replacement
- Knee Replacement
- Lung Cancer Surgery
“It is quite an honor to be recognized again as one of the best hospitals in Ohio and the Dayton metro area,” says Terry Burns, president of Kettering Medical Center. “Our physicians, nurses and staff work hard to provide the best care for our patients. We are deeply gratified to be ranked by such an esteemed organization for our commitment to quality health care.”
For the 2018-19 rankings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. In the 16 specialty areas, 158 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely or entirely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and readmission rates, volume, patient experience, patient safety and quality of nursing, and other care-related indicators.
