Getting your flu shot protects you, your family, friends, co-workers and patients, so we can keep our communities healthy.
Although it’s not mandatory, it’s highly recommended that all employees and volunteers get a flu shot by Nov. 6. Keep reading to find out where you can get your flu shot as well as be Fit Tested for your N95 mask this fall.
Sept. 21-Nov. 6
- Campus Clinics: Click here to download the schedule of free, on-campus flu shots and fit testing clinics. Clinics are 7 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted on the schedule. Those workforce members required to complete an N95 fit test can complete it at the same time as their flu shot.
Sept. 21-Nov. 6
- Primary care provider: You can receive a preventative flu shot from your provider at your next visit.
- Kroger Health: Visit your nearest Kroger Little Clinic or Kroger Pharmacy and present the special employee voucher. Click here to view and download the voucher.

N95 fit testing
Kettering Health is a blended N95 and PAPR organization, and as a result, OSHA standards require annual fit testing to ensure a maximum level of respiratory protection.
To complete the mandatory compliance, we ask those required to complete a qualitative fit test to safely identify the brand and size of N95 respirator to use.
- If unable to be safely placed in an N95 respirator, staff will be declared as a PAPR-only wearer.
- The most common reason for failing is due to facial hair. Please make sure facial hair is trimmed/groomed accordingly.
Not sure if you need to be fit tested? If you meet the criteria below, you do need to be fit tested.
- Perform aerosolizing procedure on patients
- Perform job duties on units with negative pressure rooms
- Work in Police/Security, EVS, Facilities
- Handle/Administer hazardous drugs
Employees may speak with their manager if they are unsure whether they need fitted.
All patient-facing employees are NOT required to wear an N95 mask. Those choosing to wear an N95 mask, in a recommended area, should complete the HealthStream courses “KHN N95 Donning and Doffing” and “KHN Update to Using and Storing a Mask (COVID-19),” and then perform the fit seal check prior to wearing the N95 mask.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Trivalent inactivated vaccines (TIV), protecting you against three strains of the influenza virus.
- According to the CDC, people with egg allergy may get any vaccine (egg based or non-egg based), additional safety measures are no longer recommended for flu vaccination beyond the recommendation for receipt of any vaccination regardless of previous reaction of egg. Those who wish to get an egg free vaccine can do so at any retail pharmacy or physician’s office of their choosing using their health insurance to cover the cost.
- We DO NOT offer high dose vaccines. Employees who are 65 or older can receive a high dose vaccine from their physician’s office or a retail pharmacy of their choosing using their health insurance to cover the cost.
- Flu Vaccines will be made available on KH Campuses, starting Monday, Sept. 21 through Friday, Nov. 6.
- Flu vouchers are available for use at Kroger Little Clinics and Pharmacies Sept. 21-Nov. 6.
- It is no longer mandatory but Highly Encouraged for all KH employees to receive the flu vaccine.
- Compliance with fit testing will be required by all healthcare personnel before Nov. 6, 2026. Healthcare personnel who fail to fit test by Nov. 6, 2026, will receive a Final Written Warning.
- Termination will occur if not completed within 10 days from Final Written Warning.
- Yes, however, we will only accept outside testing if conducted using one of the following respirators: (3M 1860, 3M 1860s, ACI regular); and tested after Sept. 1, 2026. Submit by going to Kettering Health’s intranet page, click on My HR at bottom, click on Employee Health at bottom, and N95 Test Record.
- If you were fit tested prior to Sept.1, 2026, you will need fit tested again. This additional test will align you with the workforce for annual compliance which is an OSHA standard.
- Yes, though having facial hair such as a beard is not permitted for use of an N95, the documentation on the fit testing form still needs to be completed annually. You must also be cleared to wear a PAPR annually.
