Ever wonder what an electrophysiologist does? Dr. Ashwin Bhirud spends his days treating people with abnormal heart rhythms—meaning their heart beats too slow or too fast.

“I chose electrophysiology because of the emphasis on problem-solving,” Dr. Bhirud says. “Making patients feel better is what really gets me excited to go throughout my day. In some cases, we help people live longer, and that’s very gratifying.”

Most of the patients Dr. Bhirud treats have atrial fibrillation, and once treated, they report they’re feeling great, able to increase their activity, and feeling a world of difference.
