Kettering Health Medical Group, the physician network of Kettering Health, has been named the 2026 Employer of the Year by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
The award was presented in September at the AAMA’s annual conference in Reno, Nev., recognizing employers that support the professional growth and success of medical assistants. Aimee Stout, KHMG Quality Director, attended the conference and accepted the award on behalf of Kettering Health.
The award is presented by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the only national association devoted exclusively to the medical assisting profession and requires nomination by an AAMA member. The recognition followed a collaborative nomination effort by several Kettering Health medical assistants and leaders, including Stout.
“A group of employees, including two members of the Ohio State Society of Medical Assistants, nominated KHMG for the award,” Stout said. “We wanted to recognize KHMG’s commitment to creating a supportive work environment where medical assistants can thrive and pursue opportunities for professional growth and career advancement.”
According to Stout, the nomination highlighted Kettering Health’s support for medical assistants through career advancement opportunities, tuition reimbursement, continuing education and its in-house medical assistant training program.
For the employees involved in the nomination, Kettering Health’s commitment to career development reflects their shared experiences. Many began their careers as medical assistants and have since advanced into clinical, administrative, and leadership roles.
“Kettering Health has provided many medical assistants with opportunities to advance their careers, including pathways into leadership roles,” Stout said. “They have supported my professional development, including my pursuit of a master’s degree.”
She believes the recognition reflects Kettering Health’s commitment to helping medical assistants grow and advance their careers.
“They see the value of a medical assistant,” Stout said. “I think it supports the values of Kettering (Health), and shows that they put value in their employees and want to see them succeed and be fulfilled in their positions.”
