Rachael Sammet, director of Nuclear Medicine at Kettering Health Main Campus, was named as a finalist for the Ohio Hospital Association’s Health Care Worker of the Year Award. The annual recognition selects four finalists. All nominees have a demonstrated history of impactful and influential leadership in healthcare.
Throughout her 14-year career in nuclear medicine, Sammet has implemented processes and technological advancements that improve cancer detection and intervention. Under her direction, Kettering Health Main Campus became the first hospital in the region to offer prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). The highly specialized tool treats prostate cancer.
As a leader, Sammet fosters an environment of growth and collaboration. Her ability to bring out the best in her staff has allowed them to reach new heights by becoming the first clinical team in the region to participate in ground-breaking trials for breast cancer imaging techniques. She has also led efforts to secure national accreditations, solidifying Kettering Health’s commitment to best practice and industry standards.
“Rachael puts the patient at the center of everything she does,” said Sharlet Briggs, president of Kettering Health Main Campus. “She leads the system’s vision for taking nuclear medicine to the next level with incredible passion and drive.”
Sammet’s dedication to community well-being extends beyond the walls of the hospital. She is a trustee for the West Carrolton Education Foundation. There, she helps raise and distribute funds to support local education efforts. She is also a certified Early Response Team Member for Miami Valley Disaster Recovery and has participated in multiple faith-based mission trips to assist in clean-up efforts in disaster-stricken nations.
