Kettering Health Hamilton has signed an agreement with Miami University Regionals to participate in the Work Plus program. The program provides part-time employment and tuition for full-time students completing degrees at Miami University Regional campuses.
Through the agreement, Kettering Health Hamilton aims to hire 10 students each academic year for three academic years, covering their tuition and fees while the students work in various entry-level positions at the medical center and complete their undergraduate degrees.
Launched in 2019, Work Plus students are enrolled full-time at a Miami University Regionals campus. Through agreements with local employers, students apply for and are hired to part-time entry-level positions with an hourly wage. Employers cover students’ tuition and fees while the students also attend courses and complete their degree program.

Students will be able to apply for any jobs for which they are qualified at Kettering Health Hamilton, such as clerical or transportation positions. Those who have completed at least a year of their nursing degree may also apply to be nursing assistants.
“We’re very excited about the prospect of students in our community having an opportunity for great work and education right at home, with a chance to be hired here after graduation,” said Paul Hoover, president of Kettering Health Hamilton. “Students can go to college, be employed in meaningful work and graduate with little or no debt. Participating in Work Plus furthers our mission and supports the overall well-being of the Hamilton community.”
Kettering Health Hamilton and Miami University have previously coordinated to support nursing education, including a dedicated education unit for nursing students at Kettering Health Hamilton and role transitions for senior preceptorship. Miami University students and nursing students from other schools can also complete summer externships through Kettering Health Hamilton, where they gain clinical experience as well as pay.
