Kettering Health hosted a grand opening event for the expansion of the Wilmington Health Center on Sunday, July 19, celebrating commitment to increasing access to high-quality care.
Community members joined Kettering Health leaders, local officials and caregivers for a ceremonial ribbon cutting followed by activities and refreshments.
The Wilmington Health Center first opened its doors in 2023, and the latest expansion will open to patients Aug. 5, bringing emergency services and outpatient imaging to the community. Additional expansion planned for 2027 includes surgical care with operating rooms, 16 inpatient beds, infusion services, a retail pharmacy and expanded imaging capabilities.
“We are all about creating an experience where we are informed about what’s happening, we understand the options, and we work with patients when we’re making clinical decisions,” Kettering Health CEO Mike Gentry said. “That’s our entire motivation: to show up and improve the health of all the residents here in Wilmington.”
Wilmington Mayor Pat Haley said the expansion represents an important investment in the community’s well-being.
“Today marks a defining moment,” he said. “This state-of-the-art expansion means more peace of mind for our families. It means we have additional access, the full service, right in our backyard. It means when an emergency strikes, or when someone is fighting a serious illness, they can get comprehensive, compassionate, professional care just a few minutes from their front door.”
Haley also noted the economic impact of the project, calling it a victory for all residents and a testament to Wilmington’s bright future.
Paul Hoover, president of Soin Medical Center, Kettering Health Greene Memorial and Wilmington Health Center, emphasized the impact of the expansion.
“Today represents progress,” Hoover said. “Not just for Kettering Health, but, more importantly, for the community and the people that will be able to receive care close to home.”
The expanded Wilmington Health Center highlights Kettering Health’s mission to live God’s love by promoting and restoring health, providing access to exceptional care to the Wilmington community.
“Wilmington is a community on the move,” he said. “Together, we are building something that expands access, fosters a welcoming environment and strengthens the quality of care.”
