
You’re invited to join your co-workers and leaders as we honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy. Kettering Health will celebrate his life at the annual MLK Memorial March in Dayton on Monday, January 16.
So, rise early, put on your walking shoes, and bundle up–chances are that it will be a chilly morning! Below we have outlined the schedule of events for the march.
9 a.m.: We will meet at Sinclair Community College, Building 12, on Third Street across from the Montgomery County building. All employees will be given Kettering Health branded hats and gloves. Parking in Building 12 will be free.
9:20 a.m.: Vans provided by Kettering Health will take us to the Charles Drew Health Center on West Third Street to gather with other marchers from across the Dayton area.
9:45 a.m.: March begins! Hot cider stations will be available along the route.
11:30 a.m.: The march ends at Sinclair College Building 12. You are welcome to attend a youth program in Building 12 following the march.
Note: Martin Luther King Jr. Day is not a paid holiday. If the time of the march falls within your normal working hours, please coordinate attendance with your immediate supervisor or manager.

January 13-16: UnDesign the Redline – In-person and Virtual Exhibits
In partnership with Kettering City Schools, UnDesign the Redline exhibit will be on display in the Fairmont High School auditorium January 13-16.
The goal of bringing the exhibit to Kettering is to allow a bigger audience, including students, to learn about our history and how it impacts our neighborhoods today. Awareness is key.
January 15: MLK Musical Concert
Join pastor Dr. Mercettes L. Cunningham and fellow community members for a musical concert at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, January 15 at 5:30 p.m.
January 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast
Peter Matthews, humanitarian, social entrepreneur, and pastor at McKinley United Methodist Church in Dayton, will present the keynote address for the 21st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast hosted by the Centerville-Washington Diversity Council. Pastor Matthews’ topic will be “Where Do We Go From Here? (MLK and a Pandemic of Morals).” The breakfast will take place Monday, January 16 from 7:30-9 a.m. at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace. The cost is $24, and registration is required.
January 16: Martin Luther King Jr. Day Skate
Celebrate the holiday at the RiverScape Metro Park Ice Rink! Come out with your children on Monday, January 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission includes an ice skate rental.
Admission fee: $7 daily ice skate rental, $3 daily skaters ages three and younger are admitted free with a paying adult
