Drug diversion is when medication is redirected from its intended destination for personal use, sale, or distribution to others. It’s very underestimated, undetected, and underreported among healthcare workers. Drug diversion can have detrimental effects on the safety of our patients, employees, providers, and visitors.
To ensure the upmost safety, Kettering Health has implemented a drug diversion program to detect and respond to all suspected medication diversions in a structured manner. As part of that, we have launched a drug diversion hotline where employees can report any unusual or suspicious behavior that may indicate drug diversion.
Both the drug diversion hotline and general compliance hotline are hosted by a third-party hotline provider. The information you provide will be sent to us on a completely confidential and anonymous basis if you choose. Each and every hotline report will be appropriately reviewed and investigated by the Drug Diversion Response team.
Utilizing the drug diversion hotline
Submit a report to the drug diversion hotline in one of two ways:
- Go to this webpage to submit a report electronically, or
- Call 1-833-220-9959 toll-free within the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Canada
If you suspect diversion, you have an obligation to report it.
If you have any questions regarding the drug diversion program or drug diversion in general, please contact us at corporateintegrity@ketteringhealth.org.
