Being in the hospital can be scary when you aren’t sure what to expect, and when Florence was admitted for COVID-19 and pneumonia, she felt the reality of that fear. But by the end of her stay, she felt that fear melt away. She shares,
“When I entered Kettering Health Main Campus, I was terrified because I could not breathe. My oxygen level upon admission was in the low 60s. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced in my life. Immediately, the care team reassured me and went into action.
From the time of admission to being discharged, the physicians and nursing staff were genuinely caring and attentive. Even after arriving home, they have followed up with me to make certain that I am healing well.
I daily call them my angels. They coached me through every moment when I felt like I was going to die during the first week of being admitted. They stood by me with helping hands all the way through this sickness, and it has truly amazed me how much they care.
The scariest thing for me has been not being able to breathe, and when I didn’t understand what was taking place, they gave me constant reassurance.
Dr. Parasram Ramdeo was so ecstatic for me, he did a dance and a ‘wahoo’ shout and congratulated me on all of my improvements! And Dr. Lucas Heinemann was there to make sure I received the best care ever! What a great hospital that cares so much to do all they have done for me. I have been so blessed.
I’m no longer scared but very hopeful for what my future holds. Thank you, Kettering staff, for all you have done to save my life. You have been the hands that God has used. I am in awe of your care.”
