CICU 2516
Thank you all for helping my Dad while in the CICU. He was suffering and you helped ease his pain and had such compassion while treating him. Thank you also that you were concerned for me and my family's needs. This was the hardest thing I've ever been through and each of you made an impression on our entire family. Dad's in heaven now and would thank you if he could.
Don
Don’t know 😞
Today was my last of three iron infusions at the main campus cancer center. While the first two times were fine, today I would like to commend the nurse who took care of me today on the 2nd floor. I don’t know his last name , but his first name is Don. From my arrival to discharge my care was exemplary! I seriously didn’t feel a thing with insertion or removal of the IV catheter. He was personable and we could have talked for hours- as we are both nurses. I hope I’ll never need to visit the infusion center again, but if I I do I will do anything I can to schedule on the days he is working. Please extend my sincere thanks to Don for his care - it’s beyond obvious that he loves what he does ❤️
Vanessa
Not sure of her last name
I brought my mother into the ER and she (my mom) can be “demanding” and bossy at times (she’s not the easiest to deal with but I’m sure there could be others worse). However, the nurse who assisted us with getting her situated in her ER room Vanessa was extremely patient with her; assisted undressing her and getting comfortable. She was so kind and spoke so softly to her. I was impressed at her bedside manner and wanted to acknowledge her for such. It is very appreciated.
Angel
Carrillo
I would like to send a huge thank you, appreciation, and Daisy award nomination to Angel Carrillo, RN.
I was admitted to 3 West on 7/11/2024 after working my own 12-hour night shift at Washington Township as I am also a nurse. I have never experienced a health scare as I did that night. My blood pressure was elevated, and I was experiencing chest pain. When I was told I was being admitted my first concern was how am I going to get any rest in a shared room after working my night shift. I knew this wasn't going to help my current situation as I was already up for 24 hours. My next concern was I was given a few different explanations in the ER. One physician told me I was being discharged while another said I was being admitted. As you can imagine by this point, I was not just exhausted..I was "over it" and wanted to go home and sleep. I was saddened as I felt like I didn't have anyone to advocate for me except for myself until Angel Carrillo, RN walked into the room. From the moment he introduced himself I knew I was in great hands. He not only reassured that he understood my concerns, he didn't judge me for being "that patient." He truly listened to me. Angel took the time to review my lab/EKG results with me. Angel then was my advocate. He spoke with the hospitalist Dr. Ashlee Ames which is also a wonderful person as well and deserves many accolades!! Both Angel and Dr. Ames explained what they felt was best for my care and together we came up with my plan of care. I was able to be discharged with follow up cardiac appointments and felt very secure about this decision. I know this may seem like basic nursing care we are all expected to give but this type of caring seems to be scarce at times. Being a Kettering employee and nurse, I first hand understand how overwhelmed and busy our units can get. Angel never let on how busy he was or in a hurry. He has a way to make you feel like you are his only patient and he genuinely cares about you. I didn't feel like "just a patient or number" to him.
I also take very personally how I treat my patients and come across to them. It made me feel so good knowing a Nurse like Angel is out there treating patients the way he treats them...like family. Thank you Angel from the bottom of my heart for what you did for me. It meant so much especially when I was already extremely nervous and just plain scared. Thank you for being a wonderful communicator and care giver. Thank you for getting me home!!!! You deserve all the best!!
