In April, you had the opportunity to provide feedback in the Pulse Survey about the effectiveness of your team and leader relationships, policies and procedures, communication, safety, and your connection to our mission.
Now, we’re using your feedback to drive meaningful action. Over the past several weeks, your leader shared team-specific results for your area. This article reviews the key results for our system, and what’s next.
Key themes and results
- Engagement indicator: We scored a 4.08 out of 5 for overall engagement—a 0.01 increase for our system since the full Employee Engagement survey in August 2023. Our engagement score is 0.04 higher than the national average for healthcare organizations, placing us at the 53rd percentile.
- Team Index: This measurement helps us understand team readiness for improvement. We saw an increase in the percentage of teams achieving overall high scores and a decrease in the percentage of teams with more critical results.
- Leader Index: This score helps us understand leader readiness for improvements and team development planning. We saw consistency in the results for the third year in a row which reflects the strength of the relationship leaders have with their teams.
- Trust: You indicated your trust in our organization to conduct business ethically has improved. This is one of the indicators that saw the most progress in this year’s Pulse Survey.
- Safety items: Your feedback showed you’ve observed improvements in specific safety items since the full Engagement Survey.
Focusing on team development
We’re focused on improving individual Team and Leader Index scores to drive overall engagement. Since the survey results were received, your leaders have spent time reviewing results and worked with you to identify plans to improve team function and team health. Teams identified as high performing have been asked to share best practices to use in supporting other teams. This work begins with our leaders, but we need commitment from our teams at every level of the organization to make the greatest impact. By collaborating with you, we can work toward creating the best experience for our teams and our patients.
