Each year, dozens of Kettering Health (KH) team members are recognized for their commitment to our mission and values through the Employee of the Month program. Thanks to our partnership with the Dayton Dragons, all monthly honorees are also entered into a random drawing for a special prize, a trip to Disney World.
This year’s winner is Robin Kehl, an office assistant at Soin Medical Center’s Breast Evaluation Center.
“I was totally surprised,” Robin said. “I didn’t expect it.”
During the presentation, Robin’s Employee of the Month nomination was read aloud, followed by a celebration with Heater, the Dayton Dragons mascot. Robin was joined by her family, colleagues, and leaders from across the system, including Soin Medical Center President Paul Hoover.
“This is always such a special mascot‑appearance presentation we get to do annually with Kettering Health,” said Kaylie Marshall, manager of corporate partnerships for the Dragons. “It was an honor to have a small part in it, and I can’t wait to hear all about her trip because she absolutely deserves it.”
Robin was nominated by a manager, who shared:
“It is with immense gratitude and heartfelt pride that we recognize Robin Kehl for her extraordinary compassion, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to others. While Robin serves at the front desk, her impact extends far beyond her role. She has a rare gift for making every patient feel welcomed, valued, and safe, especially those who arrive feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure. From the very first interaction, Robin creates an environment of calm, dignity, and genuine care.
“Robin’s compassion was especially evident during a recent encounter with a patient experiencing confusion. She got lost in the hospital and arrived late for her appointment. The patient, clearly distressed and struggling to find her way home, shared her fear of navigating the highways between Beavercreek and Centerville. Although Robin was at the end of her shift, she did not hesitate. Guided by empathy and a deep sense of responsibility for those we serve, Robin offered to personally escort the patient safely home. This extraordinary act of kindness went far beyond expectations and reflected her commitment to Kettering Health’s value of Wholeness while looking out for others’ well‑being.”
The Disney trip includes a four‑day, three‑night stay with accommodations at a Disney hotel, round‑trip airfare, park‑hopper passes, and spending cash.
