Kettering Health Network will celebrate Nurses Week during May 6-12. The network will honor our nurses by sharing stories from our nursing teams to show our appreciation for all they do to bring hope and healing to our community.
Please visit ketteringhealth.org/thankanurse to leave a thank you note for our nurses, and keep an eye on Kettering Health Network’s social media as we highlight some of our Cameos of Caring winners from 2020!
Below are some of our 2020 winners, along with excerpts from their nomination forms, highlighting what makes them exceptional nurses—and even better people.

“Rarely do I visit a patient, review HCAHPS comments, or conduct discharge calls who Kris has provided care for who does not mention her by name for the kindness, attentiveness, and responsiveness she has demonstrated to them. She is the consummate professional and would be the nurse I would want to care for me or my loved ones. She completely embodies the tenets of our relationship-based model of care and calling to care.”

“The quality of Traci’s work is seen in the lives of the patients she serves daily. She goes above and beyond what is asked of her. On several occasions, Traci has taken extra care to send her patients cards on their birthdays, anniversaries, and even call them when she knew they might need some extra care. She provides care management to more than 150 high risk patients and is effective in helping them be able to self-manage their chronic conditions.”

“She portrays Jesus’ mission by showing love and compassion to the people in the impoverished communities she serves—she has gone both with her church and on network mission’s trips. She is also an excellent resource for all nurses, both new and experienced, in the Emergency setting. Kelly is a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to take the time to explain things to new nurses.”

“Janelle is constantly looking for ways to improve the workflow of the bedside nurse. Without being asked, and even sometimes on her day off, she is always organizing the unit to create the most efficient and lean work environment. She wants this unit to not only be the best team but also have the best workspace to provide care. It was clear early on in her nursing career that Janelle was called to be a nurse. She is truly living out her calling by providing compassionate, competent care.”

“Allison goes above and beyond in every role she works and is someone that unit leadership can consistently count on for going above and beyond for the patients and the staff. She purposely seeks out additional opportunities to learn and become a resource for other departments across the hospital. I can’t think of a nurse more dedicated to improving our hospital and making a difference in everyone’s life.”

“Evelyn is truly a blessing to have working on our unit. She is a wonderful leader, mentor and teacher. She exemplifies the meaning of caring. She not only supports her co-workers at work but supports them outside of work as well. She treats our staff and our patients like family.”

“Ashley is an absolute role model for other nurses on the unit. Ashley exudes positivity and creates a positive environment everyday she works. Her positivity affects not just her patients but her colleagues as well. Ashley is an excellent team player and will always lend a hand no matter how busy she is with her own assignment. I had one patient tell me how she made him feel better, just by sitting with him and talking to him like a person. He was so impressed she took five minutes out of her busy day just to sit with him and listen. He called her an angel.”
