Kettering Health is launching a new, system-wide paging process for on-call providers via Epic Secure Chat. This will assist in streamlining communication across the system and improve continuity of care.
Beginning August 19, on-call providers should be contacted via Epic Secure Chat, not MatchMD.
For Providers:
Exception: The Medical Group After-Hours Call Service will begin transitioning from its current to new process.
Starting August 19, providers may receive pages from both systems—MatchMD and Secure Chat—as teams complete the changeover. By Tuesday, September 30, the transition will be complete.
How to Prepare

- Enable Notifications
Push notifications ensure you don’t miss urgent messages—even when your phone is on Do Not Disturb (DND).
- iOS set-up
- Open Haiku and log in.
- Tap More > Notifications > Gear Icon.
- Toggle Push Notifications ON (should appear green).
- Scroll down and ensure that
- Chat messages and consults are ON.
- Reminder notifications are enabled (optional).
- Choose sound and vibration preferences.
- Android
- Open Haiku and go to Secure Chat.
- Tap the menu (⋮) and select Settings or Change Notification Settings.
- Toggle Push Notifications ON (should appear pink).
- Customize:
- Sound and/or vibration
- Reminder notifications (sound and interval)
(Note: Alert and chat message tones are set by the system to ensure the Urgent tones can break through a phone’s DND setting.
- Allow Haiku to operate in phones DND setting (this setting location is different for each Android operation system).

- Set Your Availability
Ensure your Secure Chat status is set to “Online.” Availability status controls whether your phone receives chat messages. - Use On-Call Finder
Before contacting a provider, use Epic’s On-Call Finder to confirm who is on call.
Review the Team Message for contact preferences—some may request a call, while others prefer Secure Chat.
