Congratulations to Melynda Livengood, who earned the Living the Mission Award. Mindy works in Medical Staff Services at Kettering Medical Center.
The Living the Mission Award is given to people who bring the network’s mission to life, demonstrating the sacred work of improving the quality of life for people in the communities we serve. They use their own time and resources to transform lives, whether that’s at a network location or out in the community. Melynda was nominated by a fellow employee, and her nomination is as follows:
“Several years ago, Mindy lost her infant daughter. She has turned that traumatic event into an amazing service to the community of Carlisle. After Alli’s sudden death, Mindy decided to give back to her community in Alli’s honor. Mindy opened a store for the less fortunate families and people to come to receive clothes, toys, household items, and food. She supplies families with Thanksgiving dinners—over 25 this year! She has a huge holiday event where children can pick toys, elves wrap the presents, and Santa is even there for photos, all for free! She has held 5Ks, coat drives, toy drives, and food drives to give everything back to community. Mindy has also responded to families in crisis after housefires to offer anything she can like clothes, food, and household items. Mindy works full
time at Kettering, but her heart is with the community, making it better for one person at a time.”
