Foundation launches the public portion of the fundraising campaign
The Kettering Medical Center Foundation has received a $1.5 million gift from Dayton businessman Steve Rauch toward the construction of Kettering Health Network’s new comprehensive cancer center. Rauch’s donation is the largest individual donation to the campaign to date.
The Foundation also launched the public portion of its fundraising campaign for the 120,000-square-foot cancer center which is being built on the Kettering Medical Center campus at a cost of about $53 million. The fundraising goal for the Because of You campaign is $10 million.
“We have been working to raise funds since January 2015,” says Susan Barcus, president of the Kettering Medical Center Foundation. “As is typical in the health care field, we began our campaign by reaching out to those closest to our project, and our network and hospital leadership. We have raised an incredible $8.5 million toward the construction of this cancer center building and are very close to our goal of $10 million. We especially thank Steve Rauch for his quite generous gift which leads the way to a successful campaign and healing care for so many of our patients.”
The Foundation plans to reach the $10 million goal before the cancer center’s first patient day which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13, 2016. “The Foundation will continue raising money until we reach our goal,” Barcus says.
