Kettering Medical Center, Greene Memorial Hospital and Fort Hamilton Hospital are three of 844 hospitals to receive an โAโ from The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.
Sycamore Medical Center (including Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center) and Grandview Medical Center (including Southview Medical Center) received a โB.โ
Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
โQuality is at the heart of all we do in caring for patients,โ says Brenda Kuhn, Chief Quality Officer for Kettering Health Network.ย โWe are honored by The Leapfrog Groupโs recognition of the success of our quality initiatives.โ
Calculated under the guidance of Leapfrogโs Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single โA,โ โB,โ โC,โ โD,โ or โFโ score representing a hospitalโs overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm. More than 2,500 U.S. general hospitals were assigned scores in April 2015, with about 31 percent receiving an โAโ grade. The Hospital Safety Score is fully transparent, and its website offers a full analysis of the data and methodology used in determining grades.
