As digital platforms and tools are increasingly present across the healthcare experience, patients’ user experience with them must also be a priority. Kettering Health is examining the whole patient journey, including how patients can pay bills through MyChart. Starting this month, Kettering Health patients can now choose PayPal or Venmo to complete one-time payments in MyChart. The addition of PayPal and Venmo adds accessibility and seamless options alongside existing MyChart payment choices.
“Online payment options have expanded, and overall, the way we make purchases online has become easier and more flexible. We want our patients to have that same seamless experience when they are making one-time payments in MyChart,” said Daniel Vinson, director of Revenue Cycle Optimization and Training at Kettering Health. “Offering flexible payment options through PayPal and Venmo means Kettering Health patients have more choices for one-time bills and the ability to choose payment options they are familiar with and already using in other everyday transactions.”
Kettering Health patients accessing MyChart will find PayPal and Venmo as options when they choose to make a one-time payment. After selecting one of these new options, the patient will be prompted to sign into their PayPal or Venmo account to complete the transaction. PayPal and Venmo accounts will not be permanently linked to a patient’s MyChart account; patients will sign in each time they choose this payment method for one-time bills.
Kettering Health patients can download Venmo and PayPal app through Apple or Google Play app stores to open an account or sign up for the service online.
