Congratulations to Katlyn Graham, our February Living the Mission Award winner! Katlyn works at Kettering Health Main Campus.
The Living the Mission Award is given to people who bring Kettering Health’s mission to life, demonstrating the sacred work of improving the quality of life for people in the communities we serve. They use their own time and resources to transform lives, whether that’s in one of our facilities or out in the community.
Read Katlyn’s nomination story below.
“Katlyn not only provides the best care to our patients on a daily basis, but she also goes above and beyond to help even after discharge. This December, she collected items for a patient in need and personally delivered them to her. She left work, got stuck in poor weather, had her husband come help her, and still delivered these items to the patient after discharge. Having a nurse like Katlyn provides ease and comfort for our patients and going above and beyond brings positivity to our community. These small acts of kindness remind others how just being kind and giving to others makes a difference.”
“Katlyn is a remarkable person and nurse. We had a patient that stole Katlyn’s heart. She had many barriers in her home life that Katlyn took the time to hear and empathize with. After her discharge, Katlyn came to me to inquire if the unit could adopt this patient as a “Christmas family” and a team charity donation. She was able to collect enough money, some clothing, and gift cards to make a wonderful Christmas possible for this lovely lady. She personally organized all the efforts and followed through all the way to the delivery. This is only a small example of Katlyn’s dedication to her team, patients, and profession. Katlyn is always willing to be a team player, she will volunteer to flex her hours for the budget as well as offer extra hours on 1NW or even on other Med/Surg units because the needs are so high. That may sound ordinary, but she is the wonderful mother of three young boys and that makes her flexibility and extra efforts extraordinary.”
