Caring, competent, collaborative, innovative, and trustworthy: these are the values we ask you to demonstrate as you carry out our mission through your work.
In June, we recognized 11 team members as Employees of the Month for consistently being their best for our patients and their co-workers.
Employee of the Month recognizes the people you love to work with. The winners exhibit Kettering Health’s Standards of Behavior, live out our values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care.
Thank you for impacting the lives of those in our community by fulfilling our mission. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you!

“Devon always goes the extra mile to help students achieve their full potential. She has spent hours tutoring foundation students in her office. Most recently, she volunteered for an event with Choose Ohio First by mentoring a scholarship recipient from Kettering College who was chosen to present a poster for the 2023 Choose Ohio First Scholar Showcase in Columbus. This was not a requirement for Devon, but she still spent many hours mentoring this student to prepare the poster.”
“Ashley is so very kindhearted and willing to help us out (even when she is not technically covering our location at Kettering Health Preble). We had a situation where we had to discharge a patient and they were violent to staff. Ashley was able to help explain to our provider and team about prescribing certain medications to help the patient until they can transition to a new place from their current facility. This was paramount to helping the patient achieve the best possible outcome and treatment. I can’t thank her enough! She is amazing!”
“While her manager was on maternity leave, one of the supervisors resigned. Truc stepped in and continues to happily complete any task asked of her, and proactively looks for ways to help. She frequently goes above and beyond what is expected of her and does it thoroughly with a smile. Truc’s support as a leader positively impacts the staff. They know they can trust her to accomplish what needs to be done, and that it will be done correctly. This support from Truc allows her manager to focus on upper-level support for the team.”
“Crystal always goes above and beyond to impact our patients in the best way. She recently bought flowers for a patient’s wife. Crystal took the time to make a connection with this individual and listen to her stories as the patient was passing away. A small gesture, but the patient’s wife was brought to tears because of Crystal’s intentions.”
“Brooke goes above and beyond for her patients in the Cardiothoracic Care Unit every day. She consistently makes sure all of their needs are met and, equally important, ensures their family’s needs are met. She always makes sure all tasks are done for her patient’s before leaving. Most recently, she had a very busy day on our unit. After giving a report to the next shift, another Intensive Care Unit called asking for help because they had two patients that were coding at the same time. Brooke volunteered to go help the other unit. She ended up staying three hours past her shift helping them out. This is an amazing example of Brooke’s character. Brooke is always smiling and encouraging others when she sees they are having a busy day. She consistently empowers her patients and motivates them to get better through progressive ambulation.”
“Crystal cares so much for our patients and will go above and beyond daily to help them. Recently, one of our patients was walking on a busy road towards a very congested intersection. Crystal almost made it to work when she thought she should go back and check on this patient. When she saw the patient again they were on the ground. She was able to calm the patient down and it turns out this was one of our patients with Alzheimer’s and the spouse had been looking for them. EMS, police, and the spouse showed up and took care of the patient.”
“A patient shared that Megan gave her exceptional care and that Megan went beyond what any patient would expect from her. This patient was nervous about a surgery that Megan was prepping her for and even though the patient did not tell Megan she was nervous, Megan picked up on it and knew this was a new experience for the patient. Megan sat down with the patient and talked about things other than surgery which helped distract them. The patient came in the following week for an additional surgery and even though Megan was not available to prep the patient, Megan found her after her surgery, interacted with her, and even brought her a warm blanket. This patient adored Megan and was truly grateful for her kindness and attentiveness.”
“Tina went the extra mile to comfort a patient during their stay. The patient was having a particularly difficult day. She was very anxious about needing an MRI and having a cough that made her self-conscious. Tina went out of her way to go to CVS and purchased this patient some clean leggings to wear then refused to let the patient reimburse her. On top of her generosity, Tina also took her time to pray with this anxious patient which helped to put her mind and spirit at ease.”
“Becky does an exceptional job keeping the Emergency Department running smoothly. She excels in triage where she quickly assesses patients’ needs while helping to decrease wait times and increase patient satisfaction. She improves the attitude of those around her and has received multiple compliments from patients and their families. Becky is a huge asset to the team.”
“The Kettering Health Pharmacy in Beavercreek had been having issues with their fax machine for several months. Tickets were put in, marked as resolved, yet they were still having issues receiving faxes from providers. Jason worked for almost two months to try to get to the root of the problem, coordinating testing with Ricoh, Telecomm, and other vendors. He didn’t give up when initial attempts failed. His persistence led to the discovery that it wasn’t only the pharmacy, but that several other departments in the building (including Lab) were also experiencing the same issue. He continued working to find a solution. It took approximately two months, but his persistence finally paid off and a solution was found.
While faxing is not the main source of getting information from prescribers, it is still a critical part of our business. Now that our fax machines are configured correctly, the entire Beavercreek Health Center can ensure patient care when orders are faxed in. If Jason hadn’t have taken the time to really investigate and continually test the progress, we could still be missing orders and risk not providing excellent patient care. Thank you, Jason, for all your hard work!”
“Holly is a wonderful social worker and asset to both Kettering Health Greene Memorial and Soin Medical Center. The KH Greene Memorial social work position had a vacancy, so Holly stepped in. She starts her day at KH Greene Memorial discharge planning all the patients and then runs to Soin to discharge plan on the Emergency Department patients. Holly is a super social worker as she also supports her team members non-stop and helps them all navigate their complex cases or crises.”
