Merryman
Dr Merryman, I want to thank you for your expertise...and also your kindness.
As a nursing student years ago on an ICU in Dayton, you were teaching your residents while rounding on a patient to which I was assigned for clinical. It's no secret that students are often overlooked, but not with you. In fact, you included me in your teaching; now, over a decade later, I still remember how that made me feel when I was so unsure. It is SO important to embrace our learners and support them. Thank you for setting the stage for me, even when I wasn't your responsibility to teach. I believe that collaborative spirit does worlds of good for our patients, and it shows your caring and dedication to them.

Hajjar
Dr. Hajjar,
He was brought in on a consultation after my mom was taken for a CT scan of her lungs in the ER of Kettering Hospital on 2/29/2020. After giving us the official doctor explanation that required more testing including a biopsy. He kindly took me out of her ER cubicle to share more directly what he saw on the CT scan and his professional (though off the record opinion) that my mom very likely had stage 4 small cell lung cancer and was in dire condition with tumors filling her chest and likely spread beyond. She probably had only a few weeks left to live.
This was so important because my sister lives in Florida. So I was able to confidently tell her to come ASAP. And we could emotionally and mentally prepare for the official results to be strong for my mom, who only lived 43 days after this.
I wish I could have seen this doctor again to let him know how much I appreciated his compassion and expertise in the worst moment of our lives. I'm sure it is not easy to share such news with families, but he obviously cares about his patients AND their loved ones to navigate such dire circumstances with honesty and courtesy.
Thank you Dr. Hajjar!
Sincerely,
Melanie (Rose Schumeth's daughter)

Calvo
Dr. Calvo,
Thank you for your wonderful care of both my late mother and myself. I was so reassured to have you overseeing my breast cancer treatment. And I so appreciated your compassion during my mother's hospice care and consulting with me about the decision to move her to her home for her last days.
You really listen and care about your patients and that is truly invaluable of a medical professional.
Thank you!
Justin
Fox
Dr. Fox,
I thank you so much for your consultation in my first days of my breast cancer diagnosis. Your patience, compassion, professionalism and your kind demeanor and explanations were so appreciated during such a difficult time. And then there was the harder part... the 8 hours of surgery and the ICU post surgery. What cancer took from me you helped to restore to the best match possible. I am so very grateful for your skill and care.
Sincere thanks!
